Hoppipolla with the Downtown Trio

April 12th, 2012
April 21, 2012    8:00 pmto11:00 pm

Inspired by such bands as Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky and Radiohead, Hoppipolla rides in on sonic waves of pure ascendancy through today’s vapid, cloying mist of mediocre melodies and uninspired verse. Like the cloud laden Nordic skies of Iceland, Hoppipolla’s atmospheric compositions elicit an intriguing confluence of dark and foreboding emotion and bright and brilliant resolution. Shaun Weima’s ethereal vocals and haunting guitar glide above the intricate and sonorous bass of Winston Vinh; while the diverse effects of James Wannamaker’s keys and Tony Overvelde’s enthralling percussion are accented by the ambrosial and alluring violin of Danielle Lennon. Eclectic instrumentation and diverse inspiration coalesce in a wholly original musical experience.
The Downtown Trio +1 will seriously funk things up first.  Come with your ears wide open and your dancing shoes on.
