“Mike Evin is a rarity - a pop composer who isn’t afraid to use his wit or to wear his heart for all to hear.”  – CBC RADIO (Montreal)

Kyra and Tully have been a long time coming. Like a beacon of love guiding us through a troubled world, Kyra and Tully’s music is set to inspire the next generation of bright-eyed lovers. Their music provides a lifeline to the tradition of the duo superstars of the 60s and 70s. Sprouting new melodies in the trail blazed by those real-life couple predecessors, Kyra and Tully are not themselves new to the world of music. Fixtures on the Kingston music scene, they have been doing their thing locally on their own terms, regularly jamming and performing with some of Kingston’s best-known homegrown talent.

Those who have seen Montreal’s the Darling DeMaes live have tried to pin them to an eclectic range of acts, revealing not so much their likeness, but difference. Some hear shades of Belle & Sebastian, others Pavement, the Shins, the Pixies, Radiohead or even ‘60s echoes of the Beatles, the Ronettes, and Paul Simon. The Darling DeMaes have a sound that’s precise, unique and evocative of their collective creative minds filled with irony, naivety, and bittersweet nostalgia… and an incomparable sensibility for delicate and complex melodies.

Laura Barrett

Laura Barrett on MySpace
Using only her voice and a selection of hand-tuned kalimbas (African thumb pianos), Barrett creates “arrangements [that] are fascinating, an otherworldly, glimmering mass of delicate folk, minor-key waltzes and dissonant polyrhythms” (NOW magazine, Jan. 19, 2006). Her debut EP, Earth Sciences, is at once candid and mysterious, weaving fairy tales out of the mundane.
Beyond her solo work, Laura is a member of Toronto outfits Henri Fabergé & the Adorables and the Hidden Cameras, who give her the opportunity to play instruments she can dance with, behind or at. In addition, she was recently the musical director and co-composer for Maggie MacDonald’s remounted rock opera, The Rat King.
Wax Mannequin

Wax Mannequin (www.waxmannequin.com)
“Wax Mannequin formulates a sound landscape full of delirious rock escapades and impassioned anecdotes that seem to escape from the machine that lives in the recesses of his mind, constantly churning out proclamations that are captured on The Price. A prog-rock explosion filled with fantasy and oddity. It is truly genius work.”
–Ashleigh Taylor | Steelcitymusic.ca
This will be Wax Mannequin’s first CD Release show on a 2-month Cross Canada Tour.
